Regulatory Advocacy

As your voice, the League makes frequent recommendations to regulatory plans to ensure the best scenario possible for credit unions.

Comment Letters
On the behalf of Ohio’s credit unions, the League sends dozens of comment letters every year to regulatory agencies regarding the unnecessary hardships proposed rules pose, as well as unintended consequences. Comments from the League are often incorporated into the final versions, tempering the burdens for credit unions.

Regulatory Advocacy Report
Being your voice to state and federal regulators is among our top priorities. Along with the Credit Union National Association, we maintain regular contact with the agencies that make rules that impact credit unions and let them know what policies will allow credit unions to best serve their members. This quarterly report details issues the League and CUNA have fought for and won, and those that are still being followed closely.

Guide to CU Examination Rights
Review your credit union’s "examination rights," as outlined in the "Supervisory Issues and Examinations: Guidance For Credit Unions During The Current Economic Times And Beyond," created by the Credit Union National Association’s Supervisory Issues Working Group. The guide contains 24 credit union "examination rights," which include managing risk without being directed by examiners to eliminate it, and appealing examiner findings, conclusions, or directives without retaliation from the regulator. The publication also includes general duties of examiners, credit union examination concerns, handling disagreements with examiners and recommendations, and improving the examination process.

Compendium of Public Policies
To provide clear guidance on legislative and regulatory issues affecting Ohio’s credit unions, the Ohio Credit Union League has created and maintains an Ohio Compendium of Public Policy Positions, helmed by the Government Affairs Committee and adopted by the League Board of Directors.
