Newest League employee to channel your regulatory concerns, make your voice heard
Your League has hired a new regulatory advocate who will dedicate 2,080 hours a year fighting for you. As the Manager of Policy Impact, Miriah Lee works in the League’s government affairs team to assist with policy analysis, regulatory advocacy, and comment letters. Basically, she’s your megaphone to the CFPB, NCUA, ODFI, and other regulatory bodies.
League ensuring Director Cordray knows HMDA rules will hurt CUs
In line with our constantly playing offense on your behalf, your League is working to bring CFPB Director Richard Cordray face-to-face with Ohio credit unions to discuss the burdens and detrimental impact that proposed HMDA rules will have on you. In a recent comment letter, the League relayed your concerns to Cordray and offered to coordinate a visit between him and some Ohio credit unions for a street-level discussion of how the proposal would adversely affect consumers.
Legislature taking up fight against elder fraud, with CU input
The abuse and exploitation of older adults’ funds, property, or assets is reaching epidemic proportions and has far-reaching effects on its victims and society, including your credit union members. The nearly $3 billion lost annually is rarely recovered and leaves Ohio’s elderly destitute, which is why State Sen. Steve Wilson (R-Maineville) is reintroducing a bill aimed at curbing elder fraud. Because the issue and the legislation would impact Ohio’s credit unions, your League recently hosted Wilson to discuss the bill with its Government Affairs Committee.
