What is CU Match
Up?
CU Match Up is a web-based service that matches people with
credit unions that they may be able to join. Consumers visit
www.findacreditunion.com,
answer a few questions -- in English or Spanish -- about where
they live, where they work, and what associations they belong
to, and CU Match Up provides a list of credit unions that they
may be able to join. The service is administered by the
California Credit Union League. How does it work?
The CU Match Up database automatically matches consumers'
information with the membership information that participating
credit unions have supplied. The potential members immediately
receive a list of credit unions they may be able to join. The
searcher can find more information about the credit unions with
a click of the mouse. The information displayed includes
complete contact information, branch locations, web site
addresses, and e-mail contacts. CU Match Up also allows
potential members to enter their own contact information so the
credit unions can contact them. These requests are e-mailed
directly to the credit union so it can provide additional
information to the potential members and extend to them an
invitation of membership.
How does a credit union participate?
All credit unions affiliated with the Ohio Credit Union League
were provided with an I.D. and password the week of June 3,
2002, that allows them to enter specific FOM information into
the CU Match Up
database using their web browsers. We encourage you to be as
specific as possible. Long lists of SEGs can be e-mailed in
Excel or comma delineated formats. Credit unions that are not
connected to the Internet can provide the information to the
Ohio Credit Union League.
Can I update my credit union’s information when it changes?
Absolutely. Add a new branch location, add a community charter,
or change a web site address at any time using your I.D. and
password.
How much does this service cost?
Affiliated credit unions pay nothing
for CU Match Up. The Ohio Credit Union League has negotiated a
deal that allows our members to sign up for CU Match Up from
June 2002 through November 2002 at absolutely no cost to the
credit union.
How will consumers find this web site?
The Ohio Credit Union will place a prominent logo and link on
its Web site. League staff receives many calls and e-mails each
month from people who are looking for credit unions to join, and
will use the site to refer credit unions. In addition, the
League will promote the web site to consumers through
traditional advertising and marketing. In California, more than
1,200 people a month use CU Match Up to find credit unions.
What should you do now?
Prepare a specific list of your SEGs and field of membership in
electronic format, prepare a list of your complete branch and
contact information, and watch for your I.D. and password in the
mail. Then log on at
https://secure.ccul.org/muadmin/new_login.cfm and follow the
directions. Be specific with your information. For example, if
your membership includes an entire school district, provide
names of all schools in the district. If you have a community
charter, include all zip codes and cities within the charter.
