Regulatory Compliance Update: POSTPONED

May 13, 2020 @ 9:00 am 4:00 pm

2020 Regulatory Update:

Each year the NCUA comes out with their exam priorities for the upcoming exam cycle. The 2020 priorities have a substantial focus on consumer compliance. A lot of that focus pertains to rules that have been in place for some time now, and the examiners are focused on ensuring credit unions are executing on the basic requirements.

In this session we will:

• Cover the exam priorities of the NCUA
• Recap the specific regulatory requirements that are being focused on
• Discuss the operational impacts and what to look for internally as you prepare for your next exam
• Go through various case studies and discuss as a group the impacts of each

Serving Hemp Businesses:

After the passing of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, hemp was removed as a controlled substance at the federal level. Since then credit unions are seeing more and more requests from members and potential members for assistance in regard to these businesses. This is uncharted territory for a lot of credit unions, but with the right controls in place, a credit union can find ways to help these members.

In this session we will:

• Discuss the implications of the Agriculture Improvement Act
• Go over the regulatory guidance published by the NCUA regarding the servicing of hemp related businesses
• Evaluate the types of controls credit unions can put in place to help mitigate their compliance risk
